While researching Supercilious Oklahoma State Representative Sally Kern of District 84, I found this video from the Ellen DeGeneres Show (one of my favorites). In the video Ellen calls Supercilious Sally about a recording of her saying that homosexuals have ruined several societies and that the United States is next. Definitely worth a listen/view. You won’t believe what you’re hearing.

If you’re from Oklahoma, I’m sure you’ll experience the same compilation of embarrassment, disgust and shock that I experienced while listening to her comments. If you’re not from Oklahoma, please understand that Supercilious Sally does not represent our state, regardless of her title. All I can say is every state has one. Ours just really likes to hear herself talk. So much so, that she got herself recorded just so she can play it back at whim.

P.S. It’s a good thing I plan to stop by her office since according to the video her voicemail box is full.

P.S.S. I’m most certain that once upon a time, little Sally kissed a girl, and she liked it.

I’m definitely going to call this woman. Scratch that. I’ll just go visit her. I want her to see my face while I confront her.

Oklahoma is first in all things bad and last in all things good. It is ironic that Rep. Kern says minorities don’t study/work hard and have less initiative when 76.9% of Oklahoma’s population is white. If they constitute more than three quarters of the population then they are the bulk of the reason that Oklahoma is ranked low in areas like education, annual salaries, etc. and high in teen pregnancy, drugs, incarceration and everything else bad. I’m just stating facts.

As a blatant contradiction to her alleged statement of fact, I must comment. I would like to see little Sally’s report cards from elementary school through college. I guarantee it doesn’t compare to mine. Ask about me, Sally.

Rep. Sally Kern, R-Oklahoma City, said minorities earn less than white people because they don’t work as hard and have less initiative.

“We have a high percentage of blacks in prison, and that’s tragic, but are they in prison just because they are black or because they don’t want to study as hard in school? I’ve taught school, and I saw a lot of people of color who didn’t study hard because they said the government would take care of them.”

Not only is Sally supercilious, but she’s also a hypocrite. The biography section of her website reads, “Since Sally is an educator, her priorities in the House revolve around education. Her desire is to see the quality of education improve for all children.”

All Sally?! What’s that? Oh, all except minorities? Oh ok… you should have clarified. After all, an educator specializes in making concepts clear. Yet again, stating facts.

Nuggets = The girl that got dumped, spent 3 months in the gym & showed up looking fine as hell at Spring Break.

Knicks = Skank that broke up a relationship then once she got her man, packed on 20 pounds & wants to stay in every night

Spurs = Faithful chick that cooks the same meals, wears the same outfits, but knows how to do that kinky thing you like

Heat = Stripper that drives the Vette back to her apartment where the cable is out because she couldn’t pay the bill.

Mavericks = Hot Bimbo that you take to the Pool Party who hits on every other guy, then pukes & passes out on ride home

Cavaliers = Chick who still blames her ex for driving her to Camels & shoeless visits to Walmart, but keeps his picture up in the trailer

Celtics = Cougar that shows up at $1 You Call It Night near campus then does things to do you that your Frat buddies don’t believe.

Thunder = Cute girl in class that never talks, makes straight A’s, wears glasses, and you hope finally grows out of that A Cup bra.

Clippers = Chick who lives in an apartment in the rich part of town, looks crappy 6 days a week, but that 1 night…..damnnn.

Suns = Washed up bartender that was hot 8 years ago, holding on to the glory days before the bad roots and melanoma.

Rockets = Wheelchair bound girl that you’d might actually take out just to check it off the bucket list, and get good parking to games.

Jazz = Girl that makes you meet her parents before the 1st date. Has a Piano in the living room, and gives the ass out hug at end of night

Nets = Girl you always clowned, but you just found out her parents died leaving her a ton of cash. You’ll poke her on Facebook.

Trailblazers = Girl that went away to rehab, appears to be doing better, but every time you see her now she has some type of cast on

Grizzlies = Chunky girl at the bar that plays the Solitaire all night hoping for some guy to have his 7th shot of Jager and go Slumpbusting

Kings = Chick who still drives the ‘92 BMW that her parents bought before they got sued for an illegal pyramid scheme. 6 Visible Tattoos.

Hornets =Chick you took on a mercy date because your parents knew she was going through a rough time. She stole silverware from Red Lobster

76ers = Chick that hasn’t washed her hair in a few days, smells like cheese, hairspray & regret. She sells your buddies really bad weed.

Raptors = Skinny girl that chain smokes, listens to Ke$ha, and makes out with her friends. She uses the phrase “Sunday Funday” 4x a week.

Bulls = Girl that takes charge. Tells you what time to pick you up, where you are taking her to dinner, and what position to assume.

Pacers =Girl that constantly sends you Farmville invites, posts stuff on facebook like “Having the worst DAY” hoping for people to ask why

Pistons = Chick that was in and out of Juvy. Owns a $145 Softball bat, and has Pantera & K.D Lang back to back on her Ipod.

Lakers = Snobby former child beauty pageant winner. She’s heir to the 2000 flushes fortune. You want to hate her, but she too damn fine.

Timberwolves = Chick who once she came out of the womb was born to be an bitchy accountant, owns 7 cats, and is excellent at Monopoly.

Warriors = Old wrinkly lady that lives 6 houses down, you’re floored when neighbors say that she used to be a Playboy bunny back in the day

Wizards = Emo girl that has headphones on everytime you see her. She claims to be anti-establishment, but you know her parents work for IBM

Hawks = Chick that bought a used 300M, then took decals off so people think it’s a Bentley. She often fights chicks at Denny’s after club

Bucks = You’ve had a class w/ this girl for 7 years. Never said a word to her, probably because she’s 240 pounds & smells like Pat Summitt

Magic = Girl that you know you should probably marry, but everytime you go out she wears a damn sweater & looks like hell without makeup on

Bobcats = Chick you hooked up with once. It was a Tuesday, it was cold, & you just watched 3 hours of Cinemax. She’s texted 11 times.

“Eat a Dict”

Inspired by rapper, Snoop Dogg’s infamous quote, “Eat a dick”. A slight play on the words and it became something near and dear to my heart. Dedicated to all of the simpletons that complain about my use of “big” words.

Inspired by the 2 famous milk advertising slogans, “Got Milk?” and “Milk…it does a body good.” Also dedicated to the simpletons of the world. The subliminal message: “Get you one”.

Another play on words to create a stronger message. This one is dedicated to all of the ladies that went to college to pursue an M.R.S. instead of B.A. or B.S. This one also goes out to all of the ladies that spend their every waking moment trying to attract Mr. Right when they haven’t put any effort into becoming Ms. Right. Last but not least, to all of the ladies that degrade their fellow-lady to make yourself more attractive and get closer to some guy. Do you boo!

Inspired by the naysayers of the African-American community. Contrary to popular belief, African-Americans are not less-than-worthy, uneducated, lazy, incapable people. This country was built on the backs of our ancestors and it’s about time we started taking some pride in ourselves. So to inspire those of you that pitifully believe the externally-recorded, internal, taped message that says, “You can’t”, I have used type to send you a very powerful, counter message, “You Can!”. Dedicated to Black History, past, present, and future.

So I have substituted a “?” for the “i”, not because I don’t know that it’s generally written “FYI”, but to magnify the message. The message is: Always seek knowledge, it’s the only thing that can’t be taken away from you.

Tradeoff = a situation that involves losing one quality or aspect of something in return for gaining another quality or aspect. It implies a decision to be made with full comprehension of both the upside and downside of a particular choice. (wikipedia)

Back to the discussion.

This means that in order to gain something (or succeed) you have to give something (work). It’s just that simple. So if you are getting more than 8 hours of sleep every night, hanging out for more than 5 hours every day, or unproductively sitting on your ass for any extended period of time, you shouldn’t be complaining about your lack of success. You simply choose to relax your way through life, and the tradeoff for relaxing is success.

You have been taught this since birth, but true to your belligerent nature, you just didn’t want to believe in its authenticity. Prime example: “The Grasshopper and The Ant”. This classic fable highlights the virtues of hard work and saving, and the perils of improvidence and laziness.

Moreover, I’m sure you have heard “Nothing in this world is free.” But if I have you pegged, you probably thought it didn’t apply to your ass. So the next time you find yourself hating on some successful person, retransfer your aggressions to yourself and figure out why you haven’t reached your own level of success.

Guns and Butter... Or Just Guns!

I first saw this poster passing through the recently remodeled Tinseltown Cinema of Oklahoma City. The movie poster for “The Mechanic” starring Jason Statham and Ben Foster is the stuff of legend. This designer definitely meant business.

Design Breakdown

The movie is titled “The Mechanic”. A mechanic assembles (or reassemble) machines. Thus this assembly of guns to form a gun just makes sense.

Ignition Print designed this wonder poster. So I decided to see if I recognized anything else by them. Turns out… I did.

“Salt”

This movie was amazing!

The integration of photo and type is poetic.

“For Colored Girls”

This movie was alarming.

This poster is done using a slightly De Stijl style, differing in its use of several colors instead of the primary red, yellow, and blue planes.

They also designed individual posters for each character, and all I can say is WOW!

I miss the days of my childhood when…

Cartoons made sense.

The older we get the more programmed we become. Programmed to conform and stay in line, to not ask questions or protest the status quo. Last semester, my History of Graphic Design professor explained to us that we were our most creative the day we were born. Then as we aged, our parents, family, friends, and society beat us over the head with inhibitions until we became the same as everyone else. How exciting…

Well I’m done listening to that broken record, and my first step towards this utopia-like, creativity fostering existence is…blogging! *places pinky to corner of mouth while executing a haunting evil laugh; then spins around in computer chair and drums fingers along the desk.*
